Photography Equipment Hire

COMPANIES IN THE UK WHERE YOU CAN HIRE EQUIPMENT

There are other companies, however I have selected these as they are the most popular, I have personally used Lens for hire multiple times whilst attending riat.

Why Hiring Camera Equipment Works for RIAT

 Cost-Effective Access to Premium Gear

  • Pro lenses like the Sony 200-600mm G, Canon RF 100-500mm, or Nikon 200-500mm cost £1500–£3,000 plus to buy.

  • Hiring these for a few days typically costs £100–£400, giving you access to top-notch reach and image quality at a fraction of the price.

 Try Before You Buy

  • Renting gives you real-world testing with different camera bodies and lenses (like testing mirrorless vs. DSLR or comparing 150-600mm lenses).

  • Helps decide what system or lens focal length suits your shooting style.

 Lighter Travel

  • Avoid the hassle of flying or traveling with expensive, heavy gear.

  • Many rental companies offer delivery to your hotel, home or place of work. I have used Lens for Hire and they deliver Via DPD and its all tracked.

 Backup Confidence

  • Hiring a backup body or lens can save your entire shoot if your primary gear malfunctions.

  • Great peace of mind for high stake events.

What to Hire for an Air show Like RIAT

  • Telephoto Lenses: 100-400mm, 150-600mm, 200-600mm

  • Fast Mid-Zoom Lenses: 24-70mm f/2.8 or 70-200mm f/2.8 for static displays

  • Camera Bodies: Mirrorless or DSLR bodies with fast AF and good burst rates, you really want 5 Frames Per Seconds plus.

  • Accessories: Extra batteries, monopods, even rain covers if your setup isn’t weather-sealed

 How It Works

  1. Browse Online: Choose your lens/body on the rental company’s website.

  2. Check Compatibility: Ensure mount type matches your system (e.g., Nikon Z vs F).

  3. Select Dates: Add a day before and after the event to your rental for shipping buffer.

  4. Delivery or Collection: Most companies deliver to your home, hotel, or local depot.

  5. Insurance Option: Consider damage cover, it’s usually optional but worth it for expensive gear.

  6. Return: Use the included label or drop it off at a depot/post office. Or DPD, DHL collect it from your home address.
