Parking at RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo)

Planning to drive to RIAT? Here's everything you need to know about the parking arrangements at the show to help make your arrival as smooth as possible.

Parking Zones: Red, Green & Blue

RIAT operate three main colour-coded parking zones for RIAT:

  • 🔴 Red Car Park Located east of the airfield, ideal for visitors arriving from the Swindon or Oxford direction.

  • 🔵 Blue Car Park – Located south of the airfield, situated off-base in nearby farmers' fields. This is one of the largest zones.

  • 🟢 Green Car Park – Located west of the airfield, with a mix of off-base and on-base parking. With the official campsite being put on the green car park, this location might change or the Green Car Park might  be scrapped all together.  We will update you when we here official confirmation

Both Red and Green zones provide on-base and off-base parking, while Blue is entirely off-base, situated in temporary fields used exclusively for the event.

Arrive Early – Expect Queues

Traffic can get extremely busy, especially during the morning peak hours. Arriving as early as possible is strongly advised. RIAT's dedicated traffic management teams are in place throughout the day to direct vehicles and minimise delays.

🔊 Tune into Air Tattoo Live on 87.7 FM for live traffic updates, event news, and helpful information as you approach the show.

Follow the Yellow AA Signs – Not Your Sat Nav!

Once you're within the area, ignore your Sat Nav and follow the Yellow AA road signs marked for "Air Tattoo Parking." These will guide you to the correct car park based on current traffic flows and entry points.

Your sat nav may not account for event-only access routes and may take you to a closed gate or the wrong side of the base.

Walking from the Car Parks

After parking, there is a walk to the showground entrance. The distance varies depending on the zone, but be prepared for a 10–25 minute walk.

If you’re bringing children or heavy gear (e.g. camera equipment, folding chairs, picnic bags), a trolley or pull cart is highly recommended. These are commonly used by visitors and make the journey much easier – especially with kids who may get tired walking.

Do Not Bring Dogs

Please do not bring dogs, and never leave them in your vehicle under any circumstances. Police will break into vehicles if animals are found left inside. This has happened on multiple occasions in past years for the welfare of the animals.

Walking Entrance

If you're arriving on foot, there is a dedicated Yellow Walking Entrance located on the east side of the airfield. Follow signage in the local area for pedestrian access.
